Holy Bible Staves off Fire

Witnesses, heroes and a Bible saved the owner of this Jeep. The driver was trapped in the vehicle. Fire ignited in the engine compartment as local heroes struggled to save this man. They broke the driver side window, doused the driver with water and cut the seat belt to remove him…only moments before fire entered the cab and engulfed the entire vehicle.

With the fire out and the driver en-route to the hospital in non-critical condition, witnesses and rescue workers alike were brought to tears when they found the driver’s Bible—largely untouched by fire—sitting on the passenger seat in the burned out Jeep. According to reporter Rose Eiklor, “The [Bible was the] only thing left in the completely burned-out vehicle…sitting on the front seat.”  The sight of the unscathed Bible inspired witness/rescuer  Eugene McNeil to pray and shake hands with a local canine officer—one of the rescue workers. When asked about the Bible  and the accident, Eugene stated, “There is a God…if you don’t believe…I don’t know what to say!”

Each day we are witness to God’s greatness…we need only take notice. Slow down and enjoy the wonders of plants, trees, mountains; the sky, moon, stars and planets. Watch children play, people laugh and enjoy life. At times we focus only on the negative,”Wow…that fire was awful!” But with open hearts and minds we will see the good, “Wow! Good Samaritans pulled the driver from the wreck before he was burned alive…and somehow the Holy Bible survived that fire…that is a miracle.”

Being VerAegis does not mean we will walk through life unscathed, but instead that we recognize it is God’s mercy that got us to where we are today, and we would be far worse off without His oversight. He offers this protection, both grace and mercy, even though we don’t deserve it. Paper burns. Bibles burn. Why this Bible? Why this day? God chose to send a message…will you listen?
