There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle. Albert Einstein

Miracle number one: Tony Yahle’s heart stopped. His breathing stopped. Forty-five minutes later, the monitor he was connected to detected a heartbeat.

Miracle number two: When the doctors released him from the hospital, he seemed to be normal—no brain damage. According to TransWeb.Org (A resource on Transplantation and Donation) without oxygen, the brain begins to die:

  • One minute: Brain cells start to die, but full recovery is very possible.
  • Three minutes: Recovery is possible, but severe brain damage is likely.
  • Ten minutes: Many brain cells have died; recovery is unlikely. In the event of recovery, grave and permanent brain damage are probable.
  • Fifteen minutes: recovery is virtually impossible.

Tony had coded for 45 minutes. He was clinically dead, but he returned to life. He came back without brain damage. Naysayers say the doctors made a mistake. The equipment failed, and Tony never died. If the doctors had saved Tony, it would have been a miracle of science—nothing more. These same naysayers believe we are all random and without purpose.

Albert Einstein, one of the greatest minds to have ever lived, thought deeply about the universe. He ultimately concluded that the universe has a creator and that only a higher reasoning power could have created such natural wonders. Creating our world and resurrecting Tony Yahle both are extremely improbable events which, according to statistical probabilities,  required miracles. These events were either random or the act of an intelligent being. What do you believe? Why?

When the solution is simple, God is answering. Albert Einstein

Do you label believers as simpletons? Did Albert Einstein’s belief in a God relegate him to the realm of fools? If so, how much more than him do you know? Are you so confident that you would turn your back on learning more? Would you risk leading others astray?
